Accessed primarily via the Al-Andalus and Borreguiles gondolas, the central station of Borreguiles opens out to an impressive bowl with wide, smooth and perfectly groomed runs ideal for first time skiers.
An effective lift system,spans out from here giving access to various alternate areas for intermediate and advanced skiers/boarders alike.
In the immediate vicinity of Borreguiles there are three restaurants for all your refreshment and nourishment needs. The Borreguiles Restaurant offers a self-service style buffet plus snack bar. The Campanario offers a fast food style service with various sandwich, burger and salad options. The Alcazaba is Borreguiles’ more select restaurant offering quality dishes served a-la-carte and being situated on the first floor the spacious balcony gives you all the views you need to complement your dining overlooking the sun terraces below and beyond across the slopes.
There are ski lockers here both for day packs as well as for renting out during your stay to store your skis and boots if you so desire. Be sure to check with your ski rental store on the situation that could occur if, on your last day, you were unable to go up to Borrguiles due to lift closure and their policy applied so as to avoid being charged extra for the equipment!
This is the busiest area over the ski terrain as it also serves as a general meeting point for ski schools and access for non-skiers who travel up the gondola to admire the views and bask on the sun terraces.
Anyone starting for the first time will come here to its impressive wide open nursery area served by two “Magic Carpet” travelator belts. The Emille Allais and Borreguiles chairlifts provide the first experiences of longer descents once initial techniques are in place.
Here you will also find the meeting point of the British Ski Center, about halfway between the exit doors of the Al-Andalus gondola and the Emille Allais chairlift.
For the advanced (and flexible) who wish to put their knees to the test, skills and dexterity are most definitely required down the mogul run created on the short but steep black run, “La Visera”, overlooked by the impressively huge radio telescope dish, (and no it’s not where James Bond lives….any more!).
