Sierra Nevada defies many concepts associated with skiing. The ski resort is only about an hour’s drive from the Mediterranean coast, it has practically guaranteed sunshine, the best Spring snow conditions in Europe and is still reasonably priced compared to many of its European counterparts.
As one of Europe’s highest ski resorts, it is very snowsure and typically has a long ski season which usually starts around the end of November and runs through to the first week of May. The ski terrain in Sierra Nevada has options to suit skiers and snowboarders of all standards making it the perfect place for a ski holiday.
The ski village is larger than many expect (see the resort map) and, with a year-round resident community, there are plenty of general facilities that you would find in any village or town, such as supermarkets and a pharmacy. On top of that there are, of course, lots of other shops, many specialising in ski equipment and clothing. There’s also a spa at the Melia Sol y Nieve hotel which is open to the public.
